One explanation for the different weights of gold is provided in the CON section at 1 Kings 9:27. It argues that two separate and distinct events have been described.
Other "solutions" proposed are:
1. Hiram/Huram are different people, so these are two separate accounts.
2. In the ancient Hebrew cultural context of Kng vs Chrl, the unit "talent" was a little different, so they both report the same total weight.
3. The Hebrew word for 50 can mean either 50 or 20 - you just don't know your Hebrew.
4. The word of God cannot be wrong, and it is beyond our human capabilities to comprehend divine truth, which is good because it is not our place to question the word of God.
5. They agree. I don't see the contradiction you are alleging. Nope, I still don't. Nope, not yet.
6. Some gold was lost at sea or used to pay tariffs - thus, they are simply reporting on the amount of gold at a point near the end of the voyage (450 t) and at the very end of the voyage (420 t).
I personally don't find these convincing, but put them in for completeness in our wiki.
