JW:
16 "And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick:
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases."
Matthew is referring to Isaiah 53:4:
4 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."
"Matthew's" quote of Isaiah 53:4 doesn't agree with the Masoretic text and doesn't even agree with Christian translations of 53:4. In any case Isaiah 53:4 states that the subject would bear the diseases while the story by Matthew only says that Jesus made other people's diseases go away.
