Did Paul Go to Athens Alone?
Bart Ehrman points out in Jesus, Interrupted the contradiction in the Christian Bible regarding whether or not Paul went to Athens alone:
- 1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone;
- 2 and sent Timothy, our brother and God`s minister in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort [you] concerning your faith;
- 15 But they that conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timothy that they should come to him with all speed, they departed.
- 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he beheld the city full of idols.
