If I can change the subject, I wonder if anybody here ever noticed that the old Norse legends, which predate Christianity, tell about the beloved Baldur, a god who was unwittingly killed by blind Hodur who wielded a dart of mistletoe (ahem).
Hodur's hand was guided by the trickster Loki, who sometimes -- repeat, sometimes -- bears a wee resemblance to Christianity's Satan in that he does such nasty things as tempting poor Hodur to do in poor Baldur.
Christianity places great stock in Jesus being hanged. Odin, OTOH, was called the Hanged God long before the Jesus myth. People were hanged on a tree and then stabbed with a spear in Odin's honor.
Hmm. Hanged on a tree. Stabbed by a spear. Sound familiar?
This hanging of human sacrifices in Odin's honor was done because Odin hanged himself as a sacrifice. In the Havamal, Odin says:

"I know that I hung on the windy tree

For nine whole nights

Wounded with the spear, dedicated to Odin,

Myself to myself."

Hmm again. Nine days = 3 times 3. That's 3 times better than Jesus.
Also, here we have a god sacrificing himself to himself, which is what Christians say is the case with Jesus. But, again, remember: Odin preceded Jesus.
